On 12 March 2024, the House of Representatives passed the Walker Montgomery Protecting Children Online Act (HB 1126). The act requires digital service providers to record the ages of users who register accounts with them before granting access to their services. Further, providers must make reasonable efforts to verify user age and, in the case of known minors, only permit an account to be opened where there is the express consent of a parent or guardian.
