On 21 March 2024, the Ensuring Likeness, Voice, and Image Security Act of 2024 was signed into law by the Governor of Tennessee. The Act provides that a person possesses the right to control the use of their name, photograph, voice, or likeness across all mediums and in any form. The Act clarifies that commercial exploitation of likeness includes the availability of a sound recording or audiovisual work in which the individual's name, photograph, voice, or likeness is identifiable. The Act also creates a civil action right where a person can be held liable for unauthorised use of an individual's voice or likeness or for distributing technology primarily used for producing an individual's photograph, voice, or likeness without authorisation. The Act enters into force on 1 July 2024.
