On 24 January 2024, the Ensuring Likeness, Voice, and Image Security Act of 2024 was introduced to the Tennessee General Assembly. The Act provides that "every individual has a property right in the use of that individual's name, photograph, voice, or likeness in any medium in any manner". It clarifies that commercial exploitation of likeness includes the availability of a sound recording or audiovisual work in which the individual's name, photograph, voice, or likeness is identifiable. The Act also creates a civil action right where a person can be held liable for unauthorised use of an individual's voice or likeness, or for distributing technology primarily used for producing an individual's photograph, voice, or likeness without authorisation.
