Concluded Commission investigation into Microsoft over qualification of Bing, Edge, and Microsoft Advertising as gatekeepers under the DMA

On 12 February 2024, the European Commission concluded its market investigation and concluded that Microsoft' will not be designated as a gatekeeper based on the core platforms Bing, Edge, and Microsoft Advertising as gateway services under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Previously, Microsoft argued against the designation of its core platforms, Bing, Edge, and Microsoft Advertising, as gateway services under DMA despite meeting the required thresholds and requested the Commission reevaluation of the decision.
