Description

Concluded Commission investigation into Apple over qualification of iMessage as a core platform services under the Digital Markets Act

On 12 February 2024, the European Commission concluded its market investigation and concluded that Apple will not be designated as a gatekeeper based on the core platforms iMessage under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Previously, Apple argued against the designation of its core platforms, iMessage and iPadOS, as gateway services under DMA despite meeting the required thresholds and requested the Commission reevaluation of the decision.
