Adopted Data Protection Act 2023 including data protection authority governance
On 16 March 2023, the Upper House of Somalia adopted the Data Protection Act 2023. The Act, which establishes a Data Protection Authority (DPA) to oversee the implementation and enforcement of the law, will enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Bulletin. The DPA will also issue guidance on compliance with data breach and communication obligations, and conduct investigations regarding the implementation of the Act.
