Announced start of implementation of EU-Canada Digital Partnership including artificial intelligence regulation

On 1 February 2024, the European Union and Canada announced the start of the work on implementing the Digital Partnership, including artificial intelligence regulation. The parties stated that they will establish channels to exchange information on AI governance and international standards. Under the partnership, the parties aim to exchange regulatory approaches to address AI-related risks and enhance the collaboration on AI in international forums, such as G7, G20, OECD and the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI).
