China: Automobile Data Security Provisions including data protection requirements issued

The CAC, together with the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Transport, jointly issued the Provisions on the Security Management of Automobile Data (Trial) on August 20th. As compared to the draft provisions, there have been changes in how personal information and sensitive personal information are defined. In the adopted Provisions, the need to ensure safe driving appears more prominently as a consideration alongside privacy.The Provisions will enter into force on October 1st.
