On 7 April 2020, the Council of the European Union passed EU regulation 2020/1056 on electronic freight transport information (eFTI) on first reading. The regulation mandates that the Commission adopts delegated acts that ensure the interoperability of eFTI data, both with international models and at the Union level. The Commission is also given a mandate to look into measures expanding the level of interoperability of the eFTI environment with other systems and platforms used for the processing of regulatory information per EU transport law. In addition, where EU or national legislation requires official validation of regulatory information, such as stamps or certificates, competent authorities shall provide it electronically.
