European Union: Implemented EU regulation 2020/1056 on electronic freight transport information including Interoperability requirements

On 21 August 2024, the EU regulation 2020/1056 on electronic freight transport information is implemented. The regulation mandates that the Commission adopts delegated acts that ensure the interoperability of eFTI data, both with international models and at the Union level. The first of such acts must be adopted before 21 February 2023. The Commission is also given a mandate to look into measures expanding the level of interoperability of the eFTI environment with other systems and platforms used for the processing of regulatory information per EU transport law. In addition, where EU or national legislation requires official validation of regulatory information, such as stamps or certificates, competent authorities shall provide it electronically.
