Announced Competition Authority investigation into Delivery Hero’s platform Foodora for alleged consumer protection violations

On 13 December 2023, the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) announced the opening of an investigation into Delivery Hero, the owner and operator of Foodora, an online food ordering platform. The investigation was initiated due to allegations that the platform failed to adequately inform consumers about its coupon promotion and the system usage fee it applied. The GVH alleged that the platform failed to provide proper information regarding the conditions of the coupon promotion and the information provided regarding the system usage fee was outdated. The GVH noted that the actions if proven would represent a violation of consumer protection regulations.
