On 10 February 2020, the Australian Government, represented by the treasurer, instructed the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) to commence a digital advertising services inquiry. Specifically, the ACCC is required to investigate the intensity of competition in the market as well as possible anti-competitive behaviour existing in the market. The ACCC is obliged to hand in an interim report by 31 December 2020 and complete its inquiry by 31 August 2021.
