Terminated applicability of FISA Amendments Act of 2008 (HR6304)

On 31 December 2017, the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 expired. The Act introduces the new Section 702 of FISA, which replaces the expired Protect America Act provisions. Section 702 authorises the US government to "target non-US persons, reasonably believed to be located outside the United States, in order to collect foreign intelligence information".
