Description

Issued UOKiK ruling in an investigation into eBilet Polska over alleged unfair and misleading business practices

On 17 November 2023, the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) announced fines against the company eBilet Polska, an online intermediary platform for ticket sales. Following UOKiK’s investigation proceedings into the platform, it was found that the company was misleading consumers by only informing them of mandatory additional fees at the final stage of buying a ticket, contradicting the initially advertised price. The use of this pricing strategy, known as drip pricing, was considered misleading to consumers. Consumers who filed complaints about the service fee will be refunded, and eBilet is required to present transparent minimum prices in all marketing messages. Furthermore, the President of UOKiK pronounced another ruling and imposed a fine of over PLN 1.3 million on eBilet for unauthorised use of provisions from the Anti-Covid Act related to refund deadlines. UOKiK will issue its final decision regarding eBilet's actions.
