Adopted US-Japan statement under Partnership for Growth and Innovation including cybersecurity regulation

On 14 November 2023, the United States (US) and Japan convened the second ministerial meeting of the Japan-US Economic Policy Consultative Committee (EPCC). The parties state that the US-led Cybersecurity Business Development Mission to Japan in September 2023 was a success and intend to continue the US-Japan Cyber Dialogue regarding threat assessment and mitigation efforts. The interoperability of Internet of Things (IoT) device labelling systems, currently under development in both countries, will continue. In addition, Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) Cyber-Physical Security Research Center (CPSEC) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will collaborate on cryptography and hardware security technologies under the Memorandum of Understanding for Comprehensive Research Cooperation.
