On 14 November 2023, the United States (US) and Japan convened the second ministerial meeting of the Japan-US Economic Policy Consultative Committee (EPCC). The parties issued a statement committing to bilateral and multilateral coordination to expand and support the Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) Forum and the Global Privacy Recognition for Processors (PRP) systems as internationally recognised certifications.
