Indonesia: Issued interim ruling in the investigation into Meta requiring it to delete gambling content

On 10 October 2023, the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics (MCI) issued an interim ruling in the investigation into Meta regarding online gambling content. The interim ruling concerns Meta’s obligation to ensure electronic gambling content and activities are not disseminated on their platform. In particular, the MCI requested Meta to immediately delete content that supports, promotes or facilitates online gambling or slot gambling on its platform within 24 hours. The MCI stated that the case will be forwarded to the Law Enforcement Officials in case of non-compliance.
