Announced findings in investigation into TikTok’s operations including content moderation

On 5 October 2023, the Ministry of Information and Communications announced the main findings of the joint investigation conducted by several Ministries and public institutions into TikTok’s operations in Vietnam. In particular, the Ministry stated that the platform's content censorship process is not effective, allowing online content that violates national laws. In addition, TikTok failed to detect and remove inappropriate images and information harmful to children. The platform has also failed to assess and classify online content taking into account children's safety. The authorities have requested TikTok to take responsibility and correct violations of the law. In addition, relevant Ministries and public institutions should implement measures to ensure TikTok's compliance with national cross-border services regulations.
