Announced Ministry of Information and Communications investigation into TikTok compliance with content moderation regulations

On 5 April 2023, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) opened an investigation into TikTok's compliance with content moderation regulations. In particular, the MIC stated that online platforms operating in Vietnam are required to follow the regulations and guidelines on content moderation, taxation and advertisement. Furthermore, the MIC noted that it would investigate Tiktok's algorithm offering recommendations to users to determine its role in amplifying harmful content and misinformation.
