Description

Adopted California Assembly Bill No. 825 expanding the definition of genetic data

On 8 September 2021 Assembly Bill No. 825 ('AB 825') was adopted by California's Assembly. AB 825 amends sections 1798.29, 1798.81.5, and 1798.82 of the Civil Code relating to information privacy, expanding the definition of genetic data, to include DNA; RNA, genes and chromosomes, among others. With AB 825, the data breach notification law is improved and expanded.
