Canada: Issued Voluntary Code of Conduct on the Responsible Development and Management of Advanced Generative AI Systems

Description

Issued Voluntary Code of Conduct on the Responsible Development and Management of Advanced Generative AI Systems

On 27 September 2023 the Canadian Ministry of Innovation, Science and Economic Development issued the "Voluntary Code of Conduct on the Responsible Development and Management of Advanced Generative AI Systems". The Code encourages organisations involved in developing and managing general-purpose generative artificial intelligence (AI) systems to adhere to responsible practices. The Code outlines measures aligned with six core principles, namely accountability, safety, fairness and equity, transparency, human oversight and monitoring, and validity and robustness. It bridges the gap until the proposed Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA) is enacted.
