Description

Closed consultation on proposals for a maximum stake limit for online slots games

On 4 October 2023, the UK Government closed its consultation on proposals for a maximum stake limit for online slots games. This consultation is part of the government's efforts to modernize gambling sector regulation following a review of the Gambling Act 2005 and the publication of a gambling white paper in April 2023 containing the government's plans to enact several measures to reform gambling laws in order to protect users from online casino games. Notably, the proposals include stake limits for online slot games with the default maximum stake of GBP 2, GBP 5, GBP 10, or GBP 15 per spin. Additionally, special measures are being considered to provide greater protection for individuals aged 18 to 24.
