Adopted export controls on semiconductor manufacturing equipment

On 23 June 2023, the Dutch government adopted a regulation introducing new export controls on advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The measure aims to prevent Dutch goods from being used for undesirable ends, such as in military applications or weapons of mass destruction and to prevent long-term strategic dependencies. Specifically, exporting advanced production equipment for semiconductors from the Netherlands without a license from the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation is prohibited. The regulation will enter into force on 1 September 2023.
