Consultation opened on interim report of research into e-commerce

On 2 August 2021, the Hellenic Competition Commission published its interim report on the sectoral research into e-commerce it has been pursuing since 13 March 2020. While the beneficial aspects of e-commerce were acknowledged, the Commission raised several concerns connected to e-commerce and proposed possible regulatory measures. The commission underlines the importance of flexible policies that allow for the dynamic e-commerce sector to grow. At the same time, the significance of creating a "level playing field" is stressed - be it through consistent application of policies or reducing entry barriers to the e-commerce sector. To get feedback on these proposed regulatory changes, the Commission opened a consultation that will run until 15 September 2021. The final report is expected by the end of 2021.
