Announced extension of EDÖB investigation into Xplain AG over alleged breaches of data protection regulations by Fedpol and BAZG

On 13 July 2023, the Swiss Federal Data Protection Authority (EDÖB) extended its investigative activities to Xplain AG, a Swiss software development company. In particular, the investigation questions the access, through Xplains' software, by employees of the Federal Office of Customs and Border Security (BAZG) to the national search register RIPOL run by the Federal Office of Police (fedpol).
