Opened GVH investigation into Microsoft for allegedly inadequately informing consumers about Bing AI feature

On 25 July, the Competition Authority (GVH) announced that it opened an investigation into Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited regarding Bing's search for allegedly inadequately informing consumers about the Bing AI feature. Microsoft launched a new Bing service adding artificial intelligence (AI) functions to the Bing search. The GVH claimed that consumers are not adequately informed about the functions of the new Bing service, such as its data management, data used for AI algorithm training and how consumers can request removal from the system.
