Issued order requiring suspension of the WhatsApp privacy policy update

On 13 April 2022, the Secretary of Domestic Trade of the Ministry of Productive Development adopted Resolution 224/2022, extending the applicability of the order of suspension of the WhatsApp privacy policy update that was planned for 15 May 2021 until the ruling of the appeal submitted by the parties. The Ministry previously required the suspension of the updates arguing that the use of WhatsApp user data by Facebook for commercial purposes would have detrimental effects on the market and increase monopolisation.
