Description

Opened consultation on Advisory Guidelines on the PDPA for Children's Personal Data

On 19 July 2023, the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) published and opened a public consultation on the Advisory Guidelines on the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) for Children's Personal Data until 31 August 2023. The guidelines address matters concerning obtaining children's consent, handling their personal data, and implementing additional protection standards. The PDPC aims to gather information regarding the application scope, whether the guidelines should apply to organisations that offer products or services for children or to all products and services that could be accessed by children, including data intermediaries. Furthermore, PDPC aims to obtain information regarding what would classify as reasonable purposes for collecting children's personal data and the measures that should be implemented to minimise the collection, use, and disclosure of their data.
