United States of America: Senate passage of amended INVEST in America Act

The INVEST in America Act H.R. 3684 was passed by the US Senate and because of amendments sent back to the House of Representatives. Among many measures in various sectors the act includes the following cybersecurity measures: In section 11510 the establishment of a cybersecurity tool to assist transportation authorities with cyber incidents and the creation of a cyber coordinator by the Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration. In section 25022 the assessment and implementation of a cybersecurity risk management strategy by the Secretary of Transportation. In Division D - Energy, Subtitle B - Cybersecurity: provisions for enhancing grid security of electric utility. The programs are on a voluntary basis for private businesses. In section 50113 the creation of a prioritization framework to identify public water systems crucial for health and safety and a cybersecurity support plan.
