China: Implemented Administrative Measures for Generative Artificial Intelligence Services including registration requirement

On 15 August 2023, the Interim Measures for the Management of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services to regulate the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) within China entered into force. The implemented Interim Measures require providers of generative AI services with "public opinion attributes" or "social mobilisation capabilities" to undergo a filing procedure for the algorithms in question, as established in the "Internet Information Service Algorithms Recommendation Management Regulations".
