China: Adopted Administrative Measures for Generative Artificial Intelligence Services including registration requirement

On 10 July 2023, the Chinese Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) adopted the Interim Measures for the Management of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services to regulate the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) within China. The implemented Interim Measures require providers of generative AI services with "public opinion attributes" or "social mobilisation capabilities" to undergo a filing procedure for the algorithms in question, as established in the "Internet Information Service Algorithms Recommendation Management Regulations".
