Issued US Statement on committments for implementing the EU-US Data Privacy Framework

On 3 July 2023, the US Secretary of Commerce announced that the United States had complied with its obligations for the implementation of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) which was initially proclaimed by President Joe Biden and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in March 2022. The statement follows the designation made on 30 June 2023 by Attorney General Merrick Garland of the EU and the three additional countries of the European Economic Area (EEA) as qualifying states for purposes of implementing the redress mechanism established under Executive Order (EO) 14086 on Enhancing Safeguards for United States Signals Intelligence Activities.
