European Union: Issued Korea-EU Joint Statement on First Digital Partnership Council including semiconductors measures

On 30 June 2023, the European Union and the Republic of Korea held the first meeting of the Digital Partnership Council under the Korea-EU Digital Partnership. During the meeting, the parties announced the establishment of a “ROK-EU Forum for Semiconductor Researchers” aiming to promote research in complementary area, including the EU Chips Joint Undertaking and the Korean next-generation semiconductor R&D project. The parties also agree to exchange information on the semiconductor supply chain between the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT).
