Issued Korea-EU Joint Statement on First Digital Partnership Council including standardisation measures

On 30 June 2023, the European Union and the Republic of Korea held the first meeting of the Digital Partnership Council under the Korea-EU Digital Partnership. In particular, the parties expressed their intention of defining a common vision for 6G, including a common approach to 6G standardisation. Furthermore, the parties expressed that research cooperation should target, among others, demonstrating 6G functional properties including their standardisation impact. The parties also intend to advance collaborative approaches in international standards bodies related to Artificial Intelligence. Finally, the parties expressed their intention to advance cooperation in standardisation in quantum computing, quantum sensing, and quantum communications.
