Implemented Louisiana Secure Online Child Interaction and Age Limitation Act including data protection regulations

On 1 July 2024, the Louisiana Secure Online Child Interaction and Age Limitation Act (Act 456) is implemented. In particular, the Act prohibits social media companies with over five million account holders worldwide from collecting minors' personal data and using data generated on the basis of their activity, including posts, messages or text. The social media platforms are only permitted to collect and process minors' personal data for the purpose of age verification to comply with the service access restrictions that they are required to implement for users under 18 years old under the same Act.
