Submitted proposal for the establishment of the German Data Institute

On 5 May 2023, the German Federal Government submitted a proposal for the establishment of Data Institute to the budget committee of the Bundestag. According to the proposal, the Data Institute would study and establish processes to ensure data availability and data standardisation and implement data trustee models. The institute aims to address coordination challenges within the national data ecosystem and provide guidance, offer support and facilitate collaboration between sectors. The proposal includes EUR 10 million in funding for the development of the Data Institute for 2023 and another EUR 10 million for 2024 and 2025.
