Signed Memorandum of Understanding on Cross-border Cooperation on Combatting Unsolicited Communications

On 6 June 2023, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), and regulatory agencies from Australia, South Korea, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and New Zealand signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support international cooperation in improving consumer experiences by working against unsolicited communications, scams, and telemarketing. More specifically, the MoU promotes enforcement efforts of consumer rights by improving international strategic and operational engagement, sharing of experiences and approaches, and cooperation between specific jurisdictions through the Unsolicited Communications Enforcement Network (UCENet).
