On 19 March 2019, the Films and Publications Amendment Bill (B37-2015) was adopted after being passed by both Houses. The Bill expands the scope of the Films and Publications Act to regulate online content. In particular, it regulates “commercial online distributors” and “Internet Service Providers” and requires them to register with the Film and Publication Board. The Bill requires online distributors to submit to the Film and Publication Board all content for classification.
