United Kingdom: Introduced Bill to regulate the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the workplace

On 17 May 2023, a Bill to regulate the use of artificial intelligence technologies (AI) in the workplace was introduced in the House of Commons. The Bill aims to regulate the application of AI in the workplace and to ensure the protection of the rights of workers and trade unions concerning the use of AI technologies. In particular, the Bill would regulate the usage of AI in the context of workplace surveillance, privacy issues, and potential job loss due to automation. Furthermore, the Bill aims to prevent discrimination by algorithms and establish the right to human review of high-risk decisions.
