Signed EU-UK FTA including cross-border data transfer regulation

On 30 December 2020, the Free Trade Agreement between the UK and the EU was signed. In the Agreement, the UK and the EU commit to not restrict cross-border data flows by (a) requiring the use of computing facilities in a certain territory; (b) requiring data localisation; (c) prohibiting the storage or processing in the territory of the other Party; or (d) making the cross-border transfer of data contingent upon the localisation of computing facilities, network elements or data in a particular territory.
