Brazil: Rejected Bill 4723/20 amending General Data Protection Law, including data localisation requirements

On 19 November 2020, Bill 4723/20, amending General Data Protection Law, including data localisation requirements, was rejected. The Bill was withdrawn from consideration through application no. 2654/2020. The Bill would have required the personal data of Brazilian residents to be stored within the country. Furthermore, the Bill would have prohibited entities from using cloud computing services to process personal data if the data had been stored outside the country.
