Brazil: Issued Court ruling suspending Telegram operations and imposing a fine

On 26 April 2023, the Federal Court of Linhares issued a ruling imposing a fine of BRL 1 million a day and ordering the nationwide suspension of Telegram, a messaging app, for failing to provide the information requested by the local police on anti-Semitic movements operating on the network. The ruling came in the context of national efforts to prevent the dissemination of harmful content by social media platforms.
