On 20 April 2023, the European Parliament passed the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA). The Regulation will apply to crypto-asset issuers and crypto-asset service providers. In particular, the issuers of crypto-assets will have to register with designated authorities in the Member State and obtain authorisation to operate in the European Union. Furthermore, the issuers of crypto-assets will have to provide information regarding their capital, technical features of the digital good and their security protocols. The MiCA now goes to the Council of the European Union for final approval, and it will enter into force 20 days after its publishing in the Official Journal.
