Description

Approved AMD-Xilinx Merger

On 26 February 2021, the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) approved the AMD-Xilinx merger. The KFTC determined that the merger would unlikely cause anticompetitive effects due to differences in parties' businesses, lack of direct competition, and the existence of other dominant players such as Intel. AMD is the second largest producer of central processing units, while Xilinx is the world's biggest producer of Field Programmable Gate Arrays.
