Closed consultation on AI Accountability Policy

On 10 June 2023, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration of the Department of Commerce closed its consultation on artificial intelligence (AI) systems accountability policy. In particular, the NTIA requested input on the policies that should shape the development of AI audits, assessments, certifications and other mechanisms to create earned trust in AI systems. The consultation included topics such as what kinds of trust and safety testing should AI development companies and their enterprise clients conduct, what types of data access is necessary to conduct audits and assessments, how can regulators and other actors incentivise and support credible assurance of AI systems along with other forms of accountability, and what different approaches might be needed in different industry sectors such as employment and health care.
