China: Announced substantive conclusion of negotiations for upgrading the China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement

On 1 April 2023, China and Singapore announced the substantive conclusion of negotiations to upgrade the 2008 China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (CSFTA). This upgrade in the bilateral CSFTA will add a chapter on telecommunication services and include new rules on market access, transparency, and the digital economy, among others. The agreement is undergoing legal procedures on both sides before being signed. The upgraded agreement will also have to undergo ratification on both sides before coming into force.
