On 16 March 2023, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) implemented its Enforcement Notice regarding advertisements of mobile heating devices making exaggerated claims that these products are a viable alternative to central heating, prioritising enforcement action against online advertisements on content discovery networks, but extending to other forms of non-compliant advertisements, including online advertorials. The ASA considers such claims to be in violation of the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) Code, and materially misleading.
