Signed UK and Ukraine Digital Trade Agreement including data protection regulation

On 20 March 2023, the United Kingdom and Ukraine signed a Digital Trade Agreement (DTA) aiming to support Ukraine's economy and enhance trade in digital goods and services between both countries. In particular, the DTA specifies that the countries must maintain data protection regulations in line with principles such as transparency, accountability, data quality, data minimisation and purpose specification. Furthermore, the DTA outlines protections for cryptographic information. The businesses selling technological consumer goods will not be required to share their cryptographic information or source code as a condition to enter the market.
