Opened consultation on Artificial Intelligence in Weapons Systems

On 6 March 2023, the Artificial Intelligence in Weapons Systems Select Committee of the UK Parliament published a call for evidence on the use of artificial intelligence in weapons systems until 10 April 2023. The Committee seeks to examine a wide range of issues regarding the creation of Automated Weapons Systems (AWS), including the challenges, risks and benefits related to AWS. Furthermore, the Committee aims to gather information on the technical, legal and ethical safeguards necessary to ensure that AWS is used safely, reliably and accountably. Finally, stakeholders are invited to provide information regarding the applicability of the current UK regulation and international policymaking on AWS and its compliance with International Humanitarian Law.
