Adopted Technical Note on the Applicability of Data Protection Standards to Deceased Persons
On 17 March 2023, the Brazilian Data Protection Authority (ANDP) published a technical note clarifying the applicability of the General Law of Protection of Personal Data (LGPD) to deceased persons' data. Specifically, the LGPD applies to "natural persons", a legal status which ceases to apply at the time of death.
